Q: Why do you support the Special Assessment?
"When I first heard that Devenger was asking me to donate 300 of my hard earned American dollar to go towards a new club house I sure I thought the same thing that most of you think. Why should I. We do not even belong to the pool anymore. But the bottom line is that if we do not get the club house taken care of and the pool closes you can expect to see you home value drop by at least 5%. I understand that some people even objected to the increase in the neighbor taxes which would be about 15 dollars a year. It just makes good sense to protect the investment in you home."

"As we have been looking through some old pictures putting together our son's "Senior Ad," We came across many taken at the clubhouse. As a community, we used to have Breakfast with Santa, An Easter Parade and games, Halloween parties, and other activities for kids. It was a place for the community to get together. Scouts (boys and girls) used to meet at the clubhouse weekly as well as the Ladies Club. The clubhouse was rented on a regular basis for birthday parties and showers. When we bought our first house in Devenger it was one of the qualities of the neighborhood we felt was important. As times of economic hardship hit, it is great to know you don't have to go farther than your neighborhood for entertainment.
Also, on another note, our house is our largest investment and we feel it is necessary to protect that investment not only for ourselves, but for all of the 600+ homes in the community. It is imperative we do not let the community center become a thing of the past."

"We support the improvements because we want to see a building that could be the heart of our neighborhood. With a usable community building our neighborhood could host Girl and Boy Scout meetings, book clubs, bible studies, birthday parties, family gatherings, and many other activities. We also feel that to keep up the value of our homes and protect our biggest investment, we need to offer amenities similar to the neighborhoods that surround us. To allow the current building to be condemned and possibly lose the pool would affect every homeowner in Devenger. This improvement project is an opportunity to show what it really means to be part of a community."

" The pool and clubhouse is a key selling feature when folks are in the market to sell their house, think that if the clubhouse becomes a eyesore the whole sub-division suffers, everyone needs to pull to-gether, that is why I paid the assessment even although we don't take advantage of the pool."
Stan Boyle
"My wife and I do not use the pool or tennis court since our children have left the nest. However, we believe it is each homeowners responsibility to undertake whatever is necessary to keep up our as well as our neighbors property values. What better way can we help the cause then by supporting the special assessment. Sure $300 is a lot of money, but what you get back from the sale of your home in a well kept neighborhood will be much more. Please consider supporting the special assessment for the betterment of our community."

"We have been residents of Devenger for 30 years and even though we no longer need the pool facilities (since our son has grown up and moved out on his own), we feel strongly about supporting the upkeep of our neighborhood. We should all feel a sense of pride in the appearance and maintenance of our family center."
