Dolphin
of the Year
At the end of each season, the
Devenger coaches designate two swimmers as winners
of the Dolphin of the Year award. The
award is given typically (but not always) to one
female and one male swimmer.
The Dolphins of the Year for
2009 are Milly Treu and Morgan Shaw.
Selection of the award winners
is entirely at the discretion of the coaches,
but there are some ideals that the Dolphin of
the Year embodies that may be considered criteria
for the award. Specifically, the Dolphin of the
Year demonstrates:
- Dedication to
the team as shown by a general
attitude of helpfulness and supportiveness,
cheering for and encouraging teammates in
a variety of ways
- Reliability
through perfect meet attendance and regular
attendance at practices and special events
- A positive attitude
at practice, at meets and at all times when
representing the team
- Motivation
to improve as shown by consistently working
hard in practice
- Dedication to
the sport as shown in a variety
of ways, including mentoring younger team members
and being respectful towards opponents; also
shown by commitment to year-round swimming
- Outstanding
performance through regular
improvement of personal best times throughout
the season
The Dolphin of the Year is
a role model for other members of the team to
emulate. Below is a roster of all previous Dolphins
of the Year.
